More than a thousand industry experts involved in technology innovation gathered for the 2019 Nanjing Tech Week in China in June and the CNUK team was delighted to be part of the occasion.
Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province and an important city in eastern China. Its second annual Tech Week had a theme focussing on building a smarter future and promoting the principal of ‘innovating, sharing and winning together’.
During the event, we hosted the ‘International Summit on Innovative Medical Technology Exchange’ from our new intellectual property trading office and demonstration space.
We also introduced the new CNUK Fund delivering managed investment opportunities to develop UK early stage innovative med tech products and support their commercialisation in China.
The Fund is backed by Chinese venture capitalists, banks and local government and managed by CNUK’s senior team. The fund management team selects UK companies or technologies with the potential to transform healthcare in China and invest in these to build a local operation to complement the UK operation.
We received fantastic feedback during the week, including gaining coverage on Nanjing TV.
Our office opening event featured speeches on UK-China cooperation by James McGuire, Assistant Director at the UK Department for International Trade Shanghai, and the partnership opportunities to commercialise novel NHS medtech solutions by Professor Michael Smith of the UK healthcare innovation hub, Medipex.

Our guests also included UK companies in the healthcare industry – including medical innovators ClearSky Medical Diagnostics, RD Biomed, Veraz, Tranquality and Aelius Biotech – who showcased their products and technologies.
